The Rep Live

The building’s 1800's early life was as a lecture theatre where Charles Dickens is known to have given readings from the stage here, perhaps of Pickwick Papers with its Ipswich references?

In the 1920s it was Poole’s Picture House, a cinema that eventually closed in the 1930s.

in 1947 it re-opened back as a theatre with an October performance of While the Sun Shines by Terence Rattigan,

The Ipswich Arts Theatre began providing entertainment for the town and over the decades offered everything from Romeo and Juliet to Captain Pugwash.

It has more recently been known as The Old Rep, and just The Rep. Greene King had made a major investment in given it a new look as a pub with plush and luxurious fixtures, including chandeliers, and it retains many of its original features.

The Rep Live is the new name for the historic, and much loved old Repertory Theatre on Tower St, Ipswich. Well known as a pub venue, The Rep Live is now so much more: A family owned free-house Pub, Coffee Shop, Dining, and Live Entertainment. Our aim is to transform a superior venue into an iconic one, and to make your visit to the Rep Live the best part of your day!

Contactless Giving in Your Parish

Posted on behalf of Diocese of St Edmundsbury and Ipswich

In recent years, the UK has seen a huge shift from a predominantly cash based economy to one that, in 2018, processed over 47% of all payments by card compared to just 28% for cash. A shift of this scale requires us to consider alternative methods of enabling generous donations and payments (shop, café, festivals, etc), namely contactless giving.

This presentation, held by our Diocesan Stewardship Team, will cover the basics of contactless giving, including:

  • Background to UK changing financial landscape and declining access to cash

  • Devices on the market (we will bring some of these along)

  • Distinguishing between payment and donation terminals

  • Calculating a financial return

  • FAQs (costs involved, signal availability, offline donations, amongst many others)

The event is open to all PCC members including churchwardens, clergy, LGAs & treasurers. There is a maximum of two attendees per parish. Refreshments will be provided.

The car park has 25 spaces available. As the church is located within a residential area there may be additional  parking spaces on the road but this cannot be guaranteed.

Registration is at 10:15-10:30.

For any queries please get in touch with Lee Jukes, Stewardship Manager (lee.jukes@cofesuffolk.org).
